Today, on October 19, women and children who fled from Artsakh in order to avoid Azerbaijani aggression and be far from the zone of hostilities, were protesting in front of the UN Office demanding from the international organisation not to be silent and not to be blind.
Since September 27, when Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive against Artsakh and is continuously shelling densely populated civilian areas, including capital Stepanakert, other towns and villages. More than 90.000 civilians had to flee their homes and hide in shelters to be protected from shelling and heavy cluster warhead missile strikes from the adversary.
Now those who came to the Republic of Armenia and found a shelter here, demand from the United Nations to recognize their rights as all humans are protected by the universal human rights and they are also subject of them.
Irina Safaryan, one of many who found shelter in Armenia, says that UN Representative must visit Artsakh, must see what is happening in Stepanakert and other civilian areas and must operate as the principles of United Nations suppose. They call the UN officials to come out and to speak to them.
Ani Arakelyan from Hadrut city of Artsakh, wants her homeland to gain independence. “We want the Republic of Artsakh is called the Republic of Artsakh. We want our independence from the UN”, she says.
