Hunger Strike, Day 7. The return of 4 captives and the presence of 30 captives in Armenia’s prisons. Political Prisoner Narek Samsonyan

I was informed that 4 captives of Armenian origin have been transferred from Azerbaijan to Armenia. The news is very joyful, regardless of the professional discussions in the independent field regarding the fact that the exchange was not proportionate, as the regime handed over two mercenary terrorists to Aliyev who, in contrast to our captives, were actual terrorists. The dictator of Baku will try to present all this as a display of "humanitarianism," while the ringleader of our regime will utilize it to the maximum as yet another PR opportunity for the pre-election campaign.

In reality, the subject of the Armenian captives in Baku should have been a topic of discussion from the very beginning and resolved prior to the pre-signing of the "peace treaty." However, for this regime, the captivity of those people was not a subject of negotiation, and I believe that in the case of certain Armenian captives, the regime's ringleader himself will do everything to ensure they do not return.

Against the backdrop of our captives' return, around 3 dozen individuals remain in the regime's captivity within Armenian prisons, whose only "crime" is opposing the regime. There is no one to "negotiate" regarding the regime's local captives, whereas, back in the day, the trials of terrorists who had even shot police officers were attended by foreign ambassadors. Yet today, the blatantly anti-democratic regime established in Armenia, along with its ringleader, is permitted to do anything—even to secretly write off 3 billion drams from the budget and distribute it among the regime's executors. Needless to speak about keeping people in captivity...

P.S. Let me remind you that this is already my 7th day on a hunger strike, and my preliminary demand for immediate release from illegal imprisonment remains unfulfilled.

P.S. 2. By the way, a very positive thing happened during these days: our lawyers conveyed mutual messages between Archbishop Bagrat and myself. Without disclosing the content of the conversation between the Holy Father and me, I only want to say that everything is yet to come, and our struggle is unstoppable.

Stay well, and freedom to all political prisoners.

Determination, sacrifice, victory!
